Holiday Cheer

you can tell when that time is near,

that very special time of year,

when the leaves fall down and the snow piles high

holiday cheer brightens even the darkest sky

families come together as gift wrap is torn apart

it goes by so fast that it's almost time to depart

so many things to do

and so many places you can go

maybe even the radio city Christmas show

ice-skating is a must

hot chocolate and egg nog are an amazing plus

if you are lighting candles or lighting a tree

it's something you will always remember even if you're just three

laughing by the fire listening to a holiday song

you know in that moment nothing can go wrong

it's not about the presents ask anyone

it's about what happens after that is done

so you better get ready

it comes as quickly as it goes

How to Feel

I was once alone.
Dreaming, I'd put on my headset and
play the same song so long
that I'd forget the world
and
forget
how to feel.

Then, I met you.
Saw me with my music and
took off my headphones
just to say
hi.

We were together
friends or lovers
I no longer know.

I had come to love you
because
I loved your hatred
your anger
your pain.

I had come to love you
because
I loved your love
your joy
your warmth.

You were my radio channel
to the world.
I learned to feel again
because of you.

Then,
after a time,
I could no longer feel you
your anger
your joy.

And then, you could no longer tell
when I was angry
when I was alone
when I needed you.

Now I put on my headphones and
play the same song so long
to try and forget
how to feel.
