Tell Sloane I say "what up"

I was speeding and got caught
It didn't slip with ease
The young female cop
Made me drop to my knees

I was kind and sincere
I did apologize
But she just glared at me
With her odious eyes

So I tried sweet-talking her
And played my cards right
I saw her cold grimace
Turn into a grin of delight

In the end I got her info
She was really a good sport
And in a week we have a date . . .
At the Great Neck municipal court

Hot 'n Spicy Chex Mix

With the squares coated with spice,
O they do taste so nice.
I believe it’s a new flavor
I gotta learn to savor
The awesome taste of this new phenomenon
Loaded with flavorful pieces you just wanna go on
About how these fun shapes will make your day
O’ what did you say?
60% less fat than regular potato chips?
This is just sheer craziness. I just wanna do flips.
The way your tongue melts it. It’s plain bliss.
Pretzels, bagel chips, cheese nips, little squiggles,
Can I have some more pu-lease?
If I didn’t have these chex mixes,
the world will be an awful place.
Every girl would cry and lose their grace,
for the taste is all up in yo face!
The avalanche of flavor takes you by surprise
It’s like watching a breath taking sunrise.
Will I ever get used to this bite size heaven?
No, matter of fact, lemme go buy another seven.
Maybe one day I’ll get over this emotion,
But until then, I’ll be swimming around in this endless chex mix ocean.

False Confidence

By: Jessica Kim

I think when it comes to test grades..I'm too calm
unlike others who spazz like my neighbor Tom
I get a bad test score
I mean..its not like it's a bore
it's just that I don't cry hardcore
Maybe it's a good thing
Maybe its a bad thing.
Whatever it is, I want it to stop
Because I wanna come out on top
This "false confidence" is pulling me down
makes me wanna frown
I gotta get motivated
I gotta get dedicated
I can't let this apathy
consume my being
cuz i dont need empathy
from another human being
I just gotta rid myself of this emotion
if i wanna get a promotion
No more false confidence.

"We Paved Paradise..."

"Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got till it’s gone, we paved paradise to put up a parking lot"-Counting Crows

I found out recently that my best friend’s mother is going to lose her ongoing fight with breast cancer. This not only shocked me, but I was utterly appalled that woman so generous and kind should suffer this horrific fate. I was never told the extent to which the cancer had spread or had gotten worse, and for that reason I had remained optimistic up until receiving this news.

Up until this point I hadn't experienced a death or rather will experience a death of this magnitude. Sure, great aunts and uncles have passed, even my own grandpa passed away, but for some reason it didn't hit me as hard as finding out Mrs. Kelly had a few weeks to live. Was this because I was closer to Mrs. Kelly than I had been with my own relatives? Or was there some underlying reason that this pain was greater than others?

This question stuck with me for awhile until I realized what the answer was. I felt so much pain for Emily, a young girl of 16, who would have to go on through her teenage years without a mother. Through the pain I felt for Emily, I realized that I had been taking my parents for granted. It disgusts me as I look back now that I've regarded my parents as nuisances, instead of the loving people they are. My whole perspective on life changed, the moment I knew Mrs. Kelly was going to die.

I wasn't the only one who came to this conclusion. As my friends and I were talking and crying in the locker room about Mrs. Kelly one day after practice, we agreed that through her death we would appreciate our parents more. It's a shame that the death of such a lovely woman was what it took to make us come to this conclusion. Which reminds me of the lyrics to a counting crow song..."Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got till it’s gone, we paved paradise to put up a parking lot."

THE RECESSION IS OVA!

I dedicate this one to all the single ladies out there!

So i was at the Walmart in Binghamton the other day,.,., and i was quite disturbed by what i saw.
Everyone there looked deformed, i didnt see one normal looking person there. I asked my brother "Do they dump nuclear waste near here or something" He replied "Its like going to the Zoo, you gotta just take it all in" So thats what i did. There were nasty nasties, super baddies, people with small heads, 3rd generation hicks, Navajo Indians and so many other strange species. There was one lady on line that caught my attention. Fat. Pushing 300 mos likely, pinched face with glasses, short. small red hooked nose. She looked like a obese pigeon with boobs. She was leaning on a cart, 1/3 of her mass. In the cart were about 10 small cans of cat food. She looked like the type that enjoys cat food. She probably had cats before she ate them.

So anyways i was talking to my lady friend on aim the other day. She was talkin bout how she had woken up because she had a dream where she was peeing, so she made sure she didnt pee in her bed and went to the bathroom, then went back to sleep. I replies: so true, so trues. a similar thing happend to me I had a dream that there was a monkey in my room, so i woke up made sure there was no monkey, went to the bathroom, and went back to sleep.

In art im drawing a baby in a Hamburger aka, Hamburga baby. and its dreaming bout a hamburgR, in the dream caption it says "....see da burger, be da burger". My art teacher doesnt like it. She cant handle tha mind Explosion.

THEE END BIACH!!

Happily Ever After

Cinderella
At her fairy tale ball
Is the happiest girl
Far above them all.
Her smile's the brightest
Shown through big pearly teeth
With a look in her eyes
That tells real beauty's beneath.
Her glimmering gown
And gold diamond ring
Don't compare to this chance
To dance and to sing.
Her Prince Charming's there
In this magical abyss
Proving true love
Does really exist.
The clock strikes midnight
The evening is done
But from there she'll keep memories
Of the romance she's won.
Back to reality
So harsh and so bitter
Little does she know
The Prince is clutching her slipper.
Long days to turn nights
Fate plays its part
She learns nothing can undermine
The love in her heart.
The Prince comes to rescue
Her body and soul
And live the happy ending
That is now in their control.
There's a little bit of Cinderella
Every girl has within
When she sings in the shower
And goodness glows through her skin.
So when times seem rough
Turn those tears into laughter
Because if we believe
We will all get our happily ever after.

Civil Rights Essay (my president is black)

Martin Luther King Jr. once said “a right delayed is a right denied.” In the past, African Americans were denied the rights of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” since the beginning of time. Many groups and individual people tried to put an end to the cruel treatment of African Americans. Two historical cases that show how African Americans basic rights were deprived are: Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka, Kansas (1964) and The Montgomery Bus Boycott.
In the Brown v. Board of Education case, a black third-grader named Linda Brown had to walk a mile out of her way to go to school, when there was a white elementary school only a few blocks away. Her father tried to register her at the white elementary school but of course, the principal wouldn’t allow it. With Linda being denied, her father contacted the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) so they would further help this problem. The final decision of this case was that segregation of public schools denied black children equal protection of the laws, provided by the 14th amendment. Public schools had to integrate with “all deliberate speed.”
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a boycott that was monumental for African Americans civil rights. Rosa Parks, a town seamstress who, after a long day at work, wouldn’t give up her seat to a white person on the bus. According to the law at that time, blacks and whites could not sit in the same row, so the bus driver asked all of the blacks seated in her row to move. The other blacks sitting in that row did, but Rosa didn’t and was then arrested. When people heard about Rosa’s arrest, immediately a protest was in the making, for all blacks to boycott the buses. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “"if we could get 60 percent cooperation the protest would be a success.” More blacks then whites used the bus as everyday transportation. The end result of this boycott led to a United States supreme court decision that declared the Alabama and Montgomery laws requiring them to desegregate the buses.
The federal government, through time, made efforts to help the African Americans achieve “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Creating the: 13th amendment, 14th amendment, 15th amendment, and 24th amendment, all helped to contribute to this. The 13th amendment officially ended slavery in the United States. The 14th amendment entitled all citizens to “equal protections of the laws.” The 15th amendment forbid states to deny citizens the right to vote based on “race, color, or previous condition of servitude.” Lastly, the 24th amendment gave citizens the right to vote without poll taxes interfering. All these amendments had key effects that help lead to equality.
Martin Luther King Jr. was an enormous attribute during the civil rights time period. He started off as a Pastor and ended up being one of the most historic men in time. King organized many protests, boycotts, and marches. He prepared powerful speeches that truly, till this day, have affected people. Martin Luther King Jr. was essentially an idol during this time.
Martin Luther King Jr. once said “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” During time, racism and discrimination was always a problem. Basic rights were not given to the African Americans; they fought for it. With help from many people and groups over eras, it has gotten us to where we are today. Our president is now black. The world has beyond doubt made a gigantic change. Even though racism and discrimination still exist, everyone is equal. “Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk, Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run, and Barack Obama ran so all the children could fly.”- Jay Z.
